Timiș Clean Water Dialogues

We cordially invite you to a pivotal panel discussion aimed at addressing the pressing water quality challenges facing Timiș, Romania. The recent study conducted by the Banat’s University of Agriculture Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Timiș highlighted various water quality issues along the Timiș River course. Findings included an increase in five-day biochemical oxygen demand (B.O.D.5) and accumulation of nitrates, nitrites, chlorides, and water hardness downstream. Similarly, the EU-funded project identified challenges such as insufficient access to centralized water supply networks, inadequate water treatment with leaks in distribution networks, and outdated infrastructure for sludge treatment. These problems have significant implications for water quality and necessitate urgent and collaborative action to ensure sustainable and safe access to clean water for all residents of Timiș.
This event will convene an esteemed panel of speakers including Regional Councilwoman Nona Micicoi, Climate Pact Ambassador and Green NGO President Ioana Petrescu, Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment Alexandru Avram. Together, we will delve into recent research findings highlighting water quality issues along the Timiș River course and explore collaborative strategies for overcoming these challenges. This event provides a unique opportunity for stakeholders to share insights, propose solutions, and foster partnerships to ensure clean and sustainable water access for all residents of Timiș.
