George Ștefan is an assistant professor at the Department of Economics and Economic Policies within the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. He teaches Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, European Economics and Applied Macroeconomics at the Faculty of Theoretical and Applied Economics. He obtained his PhD in economics in 2015, with the thesis “The evolution of the European Social Model and its current challenges. Reform of the European Social Model ”. His research focuses on sustainable economic development at the local level, the impact of foreign investment, social and economic policies and issues of economic competitiveness. In 2018, he was a member of the working group on the National Plan for the adoption of the euro developed by the Romanian Government. In recent years, he has collaborated in various public policy and research projects with the European Institute of Romania, the Council of Foreign Investors, Aspen Institute, the National Strategy and Forecast Commission, Korea Productivity Center and the European Investment Bank.
