Net Zero powered by Pur și Simplu Verde provides concise news, articles, and useful information about the goal of achieving net zero emissions
Net zero refers to reaching an equilibrium between emitting greenhouse gases and absorbing them. The European Union wants to reach net zero (climate neutrality) by 2050. This website publishes new scientific discoveries, local and foreign initiatives, and public policies meant to bring us closer to net zero. It was created combining Artificial Intelligence and human input from our volunteers. It is accessible in both Romanian and in English. You can send us articles you want to see published on this site or suggestions here. Enjoy!
The ozone layer is recovering and will be complete again within four decades thanks to the campaign to phase out the chemicals that were damaging it. That's the conclusion of a UN-backed panel of experts presented today at the 103rd annual meeting of the American Meteorological Society. Examining new technologies such as geo-engineering for the first time, the panel warns of their unwanted impacts on the ozone layer. The report, published every four years by the Montreal Protocol's Scientific Assessment Panel on Substances that Deplete the Ozone, confirms the elimination of nearly 99% of banned ozone-depleting substances. The Montreal Protocol thus succeeded in protecting the ozone layer, leading to its remarkable recovery. Source: UNEP
Green hydrogen is hydrogen that is produced by the electrolysis of water, powered by electricity generated from renewable energy sources. Most of the world's hydrogen is produced using fossil fuels, especially natural gas. The goal of this funding initiative is to “make green hydrogen affordable and cost-effective over the next five years. It will also help India reduce its emissions and become a major exporter in the field,” said Anurag Thakur, India's Information and Broadcasting Minister. He said the funding would also help boost renewable energy generation by about 125 gigawatts by 2030. As of October, India had about 166 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity. Other goals are to create more than 500,000 new jobs, attract more private investment in the sector, reduce fossil fuel imports and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 million metric tons.
