Renewable Energy Explained
The Environmental NGO "Pur si Simplu Verde" partnered with the Regional Council Hunedoara to organize an online workshop about renewable energy for high-school students from Hunedoara. This Romanian region is one of the most affected by energy transition given its focus on coal mining, coal-based energy production and siderurgic industry. Civil society, private and public sector representatives will participate in the workshop. Renewable energy experts, environmental activists, and career counsellors from Pur si Simplu Verde, representatives of energy companies, of the Regional Educational Inspectorate and of the Regional Council will explain to local teenagers basic issues regarding climate change and the benefits of renewable energy for the environment, personal finances, health, and employment. The workshop is the first intervention in which various stakeholders try to bring awareness to the young public about renewables and build public support for the implementation of the Just Transition.
The speakers are: Maria Ștefănie, General Inspector at the Hunedoara School Regional Inspectorate, Paula Enuț, Head of the Delivery Unit at the Hunedoara Regional Council, Ioana Petrescu, President of Pur și Simplu Verde and European Climate Pact Ambassador, Claudia Brânduș, renewable energy expert and volunteer of Pur și Simplu Verde, Mirela Onețiu, career counselor and volunteer at Pur și Simplu Verde și Gabriel Radu, actor and member of Pur și Simplu Verde.
